Introduction

Saint Dimas! For the wounds of Crucified Jesus. In Life and in death justified shall I be.

The Bible tells us of a touching scene at the Calvary. Jesus was at the cross and by His side, two condemned with the same punishment. The tradition saved us their names: GESTAS E DISMAS.

Let's hear the Evangel: (S. Luke XXIII - 39 to 43): "One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!" But the other criminal rebuked him: "Don't you fear God" he said, "since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what out deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong." Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."

From this moment on the thief was justified and canonized by the Christ himself in the supreme moment of Redemption.
